New Cruise!

We ended the first cruise in Rome where alot of people got off and alot of people got on. However there was a fairly large number of people like us who were staying on board for the back-to-back cruises. I finally got a picture on the lawn (pic. 1).

We were docked with the Norwegian Gem which we had seen in at least one other port with us (pic. 2).

We spent our time during the day packing up the room, moving and then unpacking in our new location.

Naples

Today was the last day of the first cruise. We are staying on for the transatlantic. I could definitely do this itinerary again. Everything went by so quickly and a port was made or broke by the quality of the guide. In some ports I want a 'do over'.

For Naples I had scheduled a ship's tour to the Archeological museum. This museum had wonderful displays of the sculptures and mosaics along with some limited hard goods like vases from Pompeii and Herculaneum. It also had wonderful sculptures from one of the original seven wonders of the world, a bath in Rome.

It was wonderful to see all the sculptures with their heads and fingers attached.

Mosaics

The mosaics were wonderful and very detailed. Unfortunately most were so detailed that they didn't photograph well without a flash.

Vases

There were several wonderful glass vases.

Unusual sculptures

These two running boys and sculptured head are unusual. The boys appeared to be very lifelike and about to sprint off. The hair on the head appeared to be made with twisted metal that was attached to the stone. It's amazing that they both survived in such good condition..

Bath's statues

The statues from the ancient baths were amazingly muscular and very large.

2nd day of rough seas

Today was our second day at sea in a row. We had rough seas again. Unfortunately I still couldn't get around due to both my back and my toe. Tomorrow is Naples and I have a tour to the museum that houses the Pompeii and Herculaneum antiquities.
