Scenic Rhodes

After our excellent tour of old town we drove to the harbor that used to contain the Colossus of Rhodes (pic. 1). It was a 32 m statue and was considered one of the wonders of the ancient world. There has been some discussion of rebuilding it but that appears to have fallen by the wayside.

We then drove up to a scenic overlook (pic. 2). The ocean was such a pretty turquoise color.

From this same spot we saw some very large aloe vera plants (pic. 3).

Rhodes is a huge tourist area and we got to see the pretty (if somewhat rocky) beaches (pic. 4). Apparently the beaches on the Mediterranean side are white sand.
